حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا حَبِيبَةَ قَالَ

أَوْصَى رَجُلٌ بِدَنَانِيرَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، فَسُئِلَ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ فَحَدَّثَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: مَثَلُ الَّذِي يُعْتِقُ - أَوْ يَتَصَدَّقُ - عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ، مَثَلُ الَّذِي يُهْدِي بَعْدَمَا يَشْبَعُ

Translation

✧ A man bequeathed dinars in the way of God, and Abu al-Darda was asked, so he narrated from the Prophet ﷺ that he said: The likeness of one who frees a slave — or gives charity — at his death is the likeness of one who gives a gift after he is full.
