✧ I came to al-Rabadhah and there was Abū Dharr meeting me with mounts that he had taken to water and brought back. He had hung a water-skin on the neck of one of the camels to drink and to give water to his companions, and that was one of the customs of the Arabs. I said: O Abū Dharr, what is with you? He said: I have my work. I said: Tell me, O Abū Dharr, what did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say? He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: “Whoever spends a pair from his wealth, the gatekeepers of Paradise will rush to meet him.” We said: What are these two pairs? He said: “If they are men, then two men; if they are horses, then two horses; if they are camels, then two camels,” until he counted all kinds of wealth.
