✧ Abu Dharr used to speak harshly to Mu'awiya. He complained about him to Ubada b. al-Samit, Abu al-Darda', Amr b. al-As, and Umm Haram, saying: 'You have accompanied as he accompanied, and you have seen as he saw. If you see fit, speak to him.' Then he sent for Abu Dharr, and he came, and they spoke to him. He said: 'As for you, O Abu al-Walid, you accepted Islam before me, and you have seniority and virtue over me, and I would have desired for you to be above such a gathering. As for you, O Abu al-Darda', the death of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ almost missed you, then you accepted Islam and were among the righteous Muslims. As for you, O Amr b. al-As, you struggled alongside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. As for you, O Umm Haram, you are only a woman, and your intellect is the intellect of a woman, and what have you to do with that?' He said: 'Ubada said: No doubt, I will never sit in such a gathering again.'
