✧ Sahl bin Saad, about Abu bin Ka'ab

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُبَارَكِ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ وَقَدْ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَهُوَ ابْنُ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ

أَنَّ الْفُتْيَا الَّتِي كَانُوا يُفْتُونَ بِهَا فِي قَوْلِهِمُ: الْمَاءُ مِنَ الْمَاءِ، رُخْصَةٌ كَانَ أُرْخِصَ بِهَا فِي أَوَّلِ الْإِسْلَامِ، ثُمَّ أُمِرْنَا بِالِاغْتِسَالِ بَعْدَهَا.

✧ That the legal ruling they used to give with their saying, 'Water is from water,' was a concession that was granted in the early days of Islam, then we were commanded to perform ghusl after that.
