حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ سَهْلٌ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَهُوَ ابْنُ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ فِي زَمَانِهِ حَدَّثَنِي أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ
أَنَّ الْفُتْيَا الَّتِي كَانُوا يَقُولُونَ: الْمَاءُ مِنَ الْمَاءِ، رُخْصَةٌ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَخَّصَ بِهَا فِي أَوَّلِ الْإِسْلَامِ، ثُمَّ أَمَرَنَا بِالِاغْتِسَالِ بَعْدَهَا.

✧ That the legal ruling they used to state, 'Water is from water,' was a concession that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted in the early days of Islam, then he commanded us to perform ghusl after that.
