✧ I was a blacksmith, and al-ʿĀṣ b. Wāʾil owed me a debt. I went to him to demand it, and he said: No, by God, I will not pay you until you disbelieve in Muḥammad. I said: By God, I will not disbelieve in Muḥammad ﷺ until you die and are resurrected. He said: When I die and am resurrected, you will come to me and I will have wealth and children there, and I will pay you. Then God [Blessed and Exalted] revealed: 'Have you seen the one who disbelieved in Our verses and said, "I will surely be given wealth and children"' up to His saying [Mighty and Majestic] 'and he will come to Us alone.'
