✧ They entered a village, and 'Abdullah b. Khabbab came out terrified, dragging his cloak. They said: Do not be afraid. He said: By Allah, you have terrified me. They said: Are you 'Abdullah b. Khabbab, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? He said: Yes. He said: Have you heard from your father a hadith that he narrates from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that you can narrate to us? He said: Yes, I heard him narrate from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he mentioned a tribulation in which the one sitting is better than the one standing, and the one standing is better than the one walking, and the one walking is better than the one running. He said: If you live to see that, then be the servant of Allah who is killed. Ayyub said: I do not know except that he said: And do not be the servant of Allah who kills. They said: Did you hear this from your father narrating it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? He said: Yes. He said: Then they brought him to the bank of the river and struck his neck, and his blood flowed as if it were the strap of a sandal, without scattering. And they split open the belly of the mother of his child, revealing what was in her womb.
