حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ يَقُولُ صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَاةَ الصُّبْحِ فَجَعَلَ يَنْتَهِرُ شَيْئًا قُدَّامَهُ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ سَأَلْنَاهُ فَقَالَ ذَاكَ الشَّيْطَانُ أَلْقَى عَلَى قَدَمَيَّ شَرَرًا مِنْ نَارٍ لِيَفْتِنَنِي عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ وَقَدِ انْتَهَرْتُهُ وَلَوْ أَخَذْتُهُ لَنِيطَ إِلَى سَارِيَةٍ مِنْ سَوَارِي الْمَسْجِدِ حَتَّى يُطِيفَ بِهِ وِلْدَانُ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ

✧ I heard Jabir b. Samura say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in the morning prayer and began rebuking something in front of him. When he finished, we asked him, and he said: 'That was Satan throwing sparks of fire at my feet to tempt me away from the prayer.' He said: 'And I rebuked it, and had I seized it, it would have been tied to one of the pillars of the mosque until the children of the people of Madinah went around it.'
