✧ Ziyad wanted to appoint Imran ibn Husein as the governor of Khorasan, but Imran refused. His companions said to him, "Did you leave Khorasan to be governed by others?" He replied, "By Allah, I am not pleased to pray in its seas while you pray in its storms. I fear that when I am in the enemy's trenches, I will receive a letter from Ziyad. If I go and meet him, I will be destroyed, and if I come back, my neck will be struck." Al-Hakam ibn Amr wanted to impose it on him, so he obeyed his command. Imran said, "Can anyone supplicate for me?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then left. Al-Hakam approached him and Imran said to him, "Did you hear the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying 'There is no obedience to anyone in disobedience to Allah'?" He replied, "Yes." Imran then said, "All praise is due to Allah, or Allah is greater."
