✧ I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: “O Messenger of God, we are people of the desert, so teach us something by which God [Blessed and Exalted] will benefit us.” He said: “Do not deem any good deed insignificant, even if it is pouring from your bucket into the vessel of one asking for water, or speaking to your brother with a cheerful face. Beware of letting your lower garment hang low, for that is from pride, and God [Mighty and Majestic] does not love pride. If a man insults you with what he knows about you, do not insult him with what you know about him; for its reward is yours and its burden is on the one who said it.”
