حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ عَنْ حَيَّانَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ

بَيْنَمَا أَنَا أَتَرَامَى بِأَسْهُمِي فِي حَيَاةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، وَاللهِ إِذْ كُسِفَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَنَبَذْتُهُنَّ وَسَعَيْتُ أَنْظُرُ مَا حَدَثَ كُسُوفِ الشَّمْسِ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، وَإِذَا هُوَ رَافِعٌ يَدَيْهِ يُسَبِّحُ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَيُحَمِّدُ وَيُهَلِّلُ وَيُكَبِّرُ، وَيَدْعُو، فَلَمْ يَزَلْ كَذَلِكَ حَتَّى حُسِرَ عَنِ الشَّمْسِ فَقَرَأَ سُورَتَيْنِ وَرَكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ

Translation

✧ While I was shooting with my arrows during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, by Allah, the sun was eclipsed. So I threw them down and rushed to see what had happened regarding the eclipse of the sun to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He was raising his hands, glorifying Allah, Mighty and Majestic, praising Him, declaring His oneness, declaring His greatness, and supplicating. He remained like that until the sun was uncovered, then he recited two surahs and bowed twice.
