حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي وَيَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا عَتَّابُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَمْزَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْمُغِيرَةَ الْأَزْدِيَّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ حَيَّانَ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ قَالَ

بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى الْبَحْرَيْنِ أَوْ أَهْلِ هَجَرَ، شَكَّ أَبُو حَمْزَةَ قَالَ: كُنْتُ آتِي الْحَائِطَ [يَكُونُ] بَيْنَ الْإِخْوَةِ فَيُسْلِمُ أَحَدُهُمْ، فَآخُذُ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِ الْعُشْرَ وَمِنَ الْآخَرِ الْخَرَاجَ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to Bahrain or the people of Hajar—Abu Hamza was unsure. He said: I used to come to the walled garden [that was] between brothers, and one of them would accept Islam, so I would take the tithe from the Muslim and the land tax from the other.
