حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكَرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو بَكَرَةَ
نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَبْتَاعَ الْفِضَّةَ بِالْفِضَّةِ وَالذَّهَبَ بِالذَّهَبِ، إِلَّا سَوَاءً بِسَوَاءٍ، وَأَمَرَنَا أَنْ نَبْتَاعَ الْفِضَّةَ فِي الذَّهَبِ، وَالذَّهَبَ فِي الْفِضَّةِ كَيْفَ شِئْنَا، فَقَالَ لَهُ ثَابِتُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ: يَدًا بِيَدٍ ؟ فَقَالَ: هَكَذَا سَمِعْتُ
Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ forbade us to buy silver with silver and gold with gold, except like for like, and he commanded us to buy silver with gold and gold with silver however we wished. Thābit b. ʿAbd Allāh said to him, “Hand to hand?” He said, “Thus I heard it.”
