✧ I came as a delegate with my father to Mu'awiyah b. Abi Sufyan. We were admitted to him, and he said: O Abu Bakrah, tell me something you heard from the Messenger of God ﷺ. He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ was pleased by righteous dreams and would ask about them. One day the Messenger of God ﷺ said: Which of you has seen a dream? A man said: I did, O Messenger of God. I saw as if a balance was lowered from the sky, and you were weighed against Abu Bakr, and you outweighed Abu Bakr. Then Abu Bakr was weighed against 'Umar, and Abu Bakr outweighed 'Umar. Then 'Umar was weighed against 'Uthman, and 'Umar outweighed 'Uthman. Then the balance was raised. The Messenger of God ﷺ was distressed by that and said: The succession of prophethood, then God [Blessed and Exalted] gives the kingdom to whomever He wills.
