✧ That the Prophet ﷺ addressed the people at Mina and said: Do you know which day this is? We said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: Then he was silent until we thought he would name it by another name. Then he said: Is it not the Day of Sacrifice (Yawm al-Naḥr)? We said: Yes. He said: Which land is this? We said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: Is it not the Sacred City (al-Baldah)? We said: Indeed, O Messenger of Allah. He said: Then your blood, your wealth, your honor, and your skins are sacred like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this land of yours. Have I conveyed? We said: Yes. He said: O Allah, bear witness. Let those present convey to those absent, for perhaps one who is conveyed to is more mindful than the one who conveys. And so it was. He also said: Do not return after me as disbelievers, striking one another's necks. When the day came that Ibn al-Ḥaḍramī was burned—Jāriyah b. Qudāmah burned him—he said: They looked down upon Abu Bakrah and said: This is Abu Bakrah. Then ʿAbd al-Raḥmān said: My mother narrated to me that Abu Bakrah said: If they had entered upon me, I would not have attacked them with even a reed.

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationYazīd b. Ibrāhīm al-Tustarī narrates it from Muḥammad b. Sīrīn from Abū Hurayrah, and ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Thaqafī said the same from Yazīd. But it is not authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) from Abū Hurayrah. Rather, Muḥammad b. Sīrīn narrated it from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Abī Bakrah from his father. ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Thaqafī said this, as did Muʿtamir from Ayyūb and others, narrating it from Ibn Sīrīn from Abū Bakrah. The ḥadīth of Abū Bakrah is the preserved one (maḥfūẓ).
