✧ When that day came, the Prophet ﷺ sat on a camel and a man held its reins or bridle. The man asked, "Which day is this for you?" We remained silent, thinking that he would give it a different name. He then asked, "Is it not the day of sacrifice?" We replied, "Yes, it is." He asked again, "Which month is this for you?" Again, we remained silent, thinking that he would give it a different name. He then asked, "Is it not the month of Dhul-Hijjah?" We replied, "Yes, it is." He then asked, "Which city is this for you?" Again, we remained silent, thinking that he would give it a different name. He then asked, "Is it not this city of yours?" Again, we replied, "Yes, it is." He said, "Indeed, your blood, your wealth, and your honor are sacred to one another, just as the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this city of yours. So let the witness inform the absent, for perhaps the witness may convey it to one who is more heedful than him." Muhammad said, "A man spoke up and said, 'Indeed, the message has been delivered.'"
