✧ I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: "I did not come to you until I swore by the number of these fingers of mine that I would not come to you." Affan showed us and clasped his two palms. "By the One who sent you with the truth, what did He send you with?" He said: "Islam." He said: "And what is Islam?" He said: "That your heart submits to God [Exalted is He], and that you turn your face to God [Exalted is He], and you pray the prescribed prayer, and give the obligatory zakat. Two supportive brothers: God [Mighty and Majestic is He] does not accept from anyone who associates partners after his Islam a repentance." I said: "What is the right of one of our wives upon him?" He said: "That you feed her when you eat, and clothe her when you clothe yourself, and do not strike the face, and do not revile, and do not forsake except in the house." He said: "You will be gathered here," and he pointed with his hand toward Syria, "walking and riding, and on your faces. You will be presented to God [Exalted is He] with muzzles on your mouths, and the first thing that will speak for one of you is his thigh."
