✧ The example of a believer who recites the Quran is like a citron: its taste is pleasant and its smell is pleasant. The example of a believer who does not recite the Quran is like a date: its taste is pleasant but it has no smell. The example of a hypocrite who recites the Quran is like sweet basil: its smell is pleasant but it has no taste—and Yahya once said: its taste is bitter. And the example of a hypocrite who does not recite the Quran is like a colocynth: it has no smell and its taste is foul.
