Musnad Ahmad 19573

✧ Abi Musa al-Ash'ari

Translation

✧ The likeness of what God, Mighty and Majestic, sent me with of guidance and knowledge is like abundant rain that fell upon the earth. A portion of it received [the water] and produced abundant herbage and grass. Some of it was hard ground that held the water, so God, Mighty and Majestic, benefited people thereby: they drank, pastured, watered, cultivated, and irrigated. Another portion of it fell upon barren flats that neither hold water nor produce herbage. That is the likeness of one who has understanding in the religion of God, Mighty and Majestic, and whom God, Mighty and Majestic, benefits with what He sent me with, so he learns and teaches; and the likeness of one who does not raise his head to that at all, and does not accept the guidance of God, Mighty and Majestic, with which I was sent.
