حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى قَالَ
جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَرَأَيْتَ الرَّجُلَ يُقَاتِلُ شَجَاعَةً، وَيُقَاتِلُ حَمِيَّةً، وَيُقَاتِلُ رِيَاءً، فَأَيُّ ذَلِكَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ ؟ قَالَ: فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: مَنْ قَاتَلَ لِتَكُونَ كَلِمَةُ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ هِيَ الْعُلْيَا فَهُوَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of God, what do you think of a man who fights out of bravery, fights out of tribal zeal, and fights to show off—which of these is in the path of God?' He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ said, 'Whoever fights so that the word of God, Mighty and Majestic, is supreme, he is in the path of God, Mighty and Majestic.'
