✧ I came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was halting at al-Abṭaḥ. He said to me: 'Have you performed Ḥajj?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'How did you enter iḥrām?' He said: I said: 'Labbayka with an iḥrām like the iḥrām of the Prophet ﷺ.' He said: 'You have done well.' He said: 'Go around the House and between al-Ṣafā and al-Marwah, then exit iḥrām.' He said: So I went around the House and between al-Ṣafā and al-Marwah, then I came to a woman of Banū Qays, and she deloused my head. Then I entered iḥrām for Ḥajj. He said: And I used to give this ruling to the people until the caliphate of ʿUmar ؓ. A man said to me: 'O Abū Mūsā, or O ʿAbd Allāh b. Qays: Wait a little with some of your rulings, for you do not know what the Commander of the Believers has introduced concerning the rites after you.' He said: So he said: 'O people, whoever we gave a ruling to should go slowly, for the Commander of the Believers is coming to you, so follow him.' He said: So ʿUmar came, and I mentioned that to him. He said: 'If we follow the Book of Allah, the Book of Allah Most High commands us to complete it. If we follow the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not exit iḥrām until the sacrificial animal reached its place of sacrifice.'
