✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was one day reviewing horses, and with him was ʿUyaynah b. Ḥiṣn b. Badr al-Fazārī. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: I am more knowledgeable about horses than you. ʿUyaynah said: And I am more knowledgeable about men than you. The Prophet ﷺ said to him: How is that? He said: The best of men are men who carry their swords on their shoulders, placing their spears on the withers of their horses, wearing cloaks, from the people of Najd. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: You have lied. Rather, the best of men are the men of the people of Yemen, and faith is Yemeni, to Lakhm, Judhām, and ʿĀmilah. The eaten of Ḥimyar is better than its eater, and Ḥaḍramawt is better than Banū al-Ḥārith, and one tribe is better than another tribe, and one tribe is worse than another tribe. By Allah, I do not care if both al-Ḥāriths perish. Allah cursed the four kings: Jamd, Mikhwas, Mishraḥ, and Abḍaʿah, and their sister al-ʿAmarradah. Then he said: My Lord, Mighty and Majestic, commanded me to curse Quraysh twice, so I cursed them, and He commanded me to pray for them twice, so I prayed for them twice. Then he said: ʿUṣayyah disobeyed Allah and His Messenger, except Qays, Jaʿdah, and ʿUṣayyah. Then he said: Aslam, Ghifār, Muzaynah, and their allies from Juhaynah are better than Banū Asad, Tamīm, Ghaṭafān, and Hawāzin in the sight of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, on the Day of Resurrection. Then he said: The worst of two tribes among the Arabs are Najrān and Banū Taghlib, and the tribe with the most people in Paradise is Madhḥij.
