Translation

✧ I was asking about the hadith of 'Adi b. Hatim while I was in a corner of Kufa. Should I not be the one who hears it from him? So I came to him and said: Do you know me? He said: Yes.

• فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ وَقَالَ فِيهِ أَلَسْتَ رَكُوسِيًّا؟ قُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ أَوَلَسْتَ تَرْأَسُ قَوْمَكَ؟ فَقُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ أَوَلَسْتَ تَأْخُذُ الْمِرْبَاعَ؟ قُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ ذَاكَ لَا يَحِلُّ لَكَ فِي دِينِكِ قَالَ فَتَوَاضَعَتْ مِنِّي نَفْسِي فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ
