Show the chain

What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • al-Tirmidhi

machine translationThe hadith of Zayd b. Arqam has idtirāb (inconsistency) in its chain of transmission.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 19574
  • al-Bukhari

machine translationPerhaps Qatādah heard it from al-Qāsim b. ʿAwf al-Shaybānī and from al-Naḍr b. Anas, from Anas; and he (al-Bukhārī) did not pass any judgement on it.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 19574
  • Bazzār

machine translationThey differed about its chain of transmission.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 19574
  • Abū ʿAbdullāh al-Ḥākim

machine translationThere is a disagreement about it going back to Qatādah. Muslim has relied on a hadith of Qatādah from al-Naḍr, from Zayd. Saʿīd narrated it from al-Qāsim, and both chains meet the criterion of the ṣaḥīḥ (authentic) hadith.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 19574

  • Ishbīlī

machine translationThere is a disagreement about its chain of transmission, and the one who narrated it as connected (musnad) is trustworthy (thiqah).

    in مسند أحمد, p. 19574
  • Badr al-Dīn al-ʿAynī

machine translationThe statement of al-Ishbīlī is not good, because it was not charged with being mursal (with the Companion omitted) such that the ruling would go to the one who narrated it as connected; rather, it was charged with idtirāb (inconsistency) going back to Qatādah.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 19574
  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationIt seems that the correct statement is the statement of Shuʿbah and those who followed him.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 19574
  • al-Tirmidhi

machine translationThere is inconsistency (iḍṭirāb) in its chain of narration.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 19574

machine translationThey differed about it. As for Saʿīd b. Abī ʿArūbah, he says: from Qatādah, from al-Qāsim b. ʿAwf, from Zayd, from the Prophet ﷺ. Shuʿbah says: from Qatādah, from al-Naḍr b. Anas, from Zayd b. Arqam, from the Prophet ﷺ. And the hadith of ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Ṣuhayb, from Anas, is more likely correct in my view.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 19574
  • al-Tirmidhi

machine translationThere is idtirāb (inconsistency) in its chain of transmission. Al-Bukhārī was asked about it and said: Perhaps Qatādah heard it from al-Qāsim b. ʿAwf al-Shaybānī and from al-Naḍr b. Anas, from Anas; and he did not pass any judgement on this.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 19574
