✧ We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When we had left Madinah, there was a rider urging his mount toward us. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "It seems this rider intends you." He said: The man reached us and greeted us, so we returned his greeting. The Prophet ﷺ said to him: "From where have you come?" He said: "From my family, my children, and my clan." He said: "Where do you intend to go?" He said: "I intend to go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." He said: "You have found him." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, teach me what faith is." He said: "You testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, you establish prayer, you give zakah, you fast Ramadan, and you perform pilgrimage to the House." He said: "I have affirmed." He said: Then his camel's foot fell into a network of rodent holes, so his camel fell and the man fell, landing on his head and dying. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Bring the man to me." He said: Ammar b. Yasir and Hudhayfah leapt to him and sat him up. They said: "O Messenger of Allah, the man has died." He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned away from them, then said to them: "Did you not see me turn away from the man? Indeed I saw two angels putting the fruits of Paradise into his mouth, so I knew that he died hungry." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "This, by Allah, is one of those about whom Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said: 'Those who believe and do not mix their faith with wrongdoing - those will have security, and they are rightly guided.'" He said: Then he said: "Take care of your brother." He said: We carried him to water, washed him, embalmed him, shrouded him, and carried him to the grave. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and sat at the edge of the grave. He said: "Make a lahd (niche) and do not dig a trench, for the lahd is for us and the trench is for others."
