✧ We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at the beginning of the day. He said: Then a group of people came to him, barefoot, naked, wearing striped cloaks or robes, carrying swords. Most of them were from Mudar, indeed all of them were from Mudar. The face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ changed because of the poverty he saw in them. He said: He entered, then came out and ordered Bilal, so he gave the call to prayer and the iqamah, then he prayed. Then he delivered a sermon and said: "O people, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul" to the end of the verse "Indeed Allah is ever watchful over you." And he recited the verse that is in Surah al-Hashr: "And let every soul look to what it has put forward for tomorrow." "A man should give charity from his dinar, from his dirham, from his garment, from a sa' of his wheat, from a sa' of his dates" until he said: "even with half a date." He said: Then a man from the Ansar came with a purse that his hand could hardly carry, indeed it was too heavy. Then people followed one another until I saw two heaps of food and clothing, until I saw the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ glowing, meaning as if it were gilded. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever establishes a good practice in Islam, he will have its reward and the reward of those who act upon it after him, without any of their rewards being diminished. And whoever establishes an evil practice in Islam, he will bear its burden and the burden of those who act upon it after him, without any of their burdens being diminished."
