حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُخْتَارِ مَنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ أَبِي أَوْفَى قَالَ

كُنَّا فِي سَفَرٍ فَلَمْ نَجِدِ الْمَاءَ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ هَجَمْنَا عَلَى الْمَاءِ بَعْدُ، قَالَ: فَجَعَلُوا يَسْقُونَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، فَكُلَّمَا أَتَوْهُ بِالشَّرَابِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: سَاقِي الْقَوْمِ آخِرُهُمْ - ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ - حَتَّى شَرِبُوا كُلُّهُمْ

✧ We were on a journey and could not find water. He said: Then we came upon water afterwards. He said: They began to give water to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and every time they brought him a drink, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The water-bearer of the people is the last of them' – three times – until they all drank.
