✧ He used to mention the name of Allah at the beginning of his meal, and at the last morsel he would say: 'In the name of Allah at its beginning and its end.' I said to him: 'You mention the name of Allah at the beginning of what you eat. What about your saying at the end of what you eat: "In the name of Allah at its beginning and its end?"' He said: 'I will tell you about that. My grandfather Umayyah b. Makhshī, who was one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, I heard him say: "A man was eating while the Prophet ﷺ was watching. He did not mention the name of Allah until the last morsel of his food. He said: 'In the name of Allah at its beginning and its end.' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'The devil kept eating with him until he mentioned the name of Allah, then nothing remained in his stomach but he vomited it.'"
