حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ قَالَ

لا يَسْتَوِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ غَيْرُ أُولِي الضَّرَرِ قَالَ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ جَاءَ عَمْرُو بْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَكَانَ ضَرِيرَ الْبَصَرِ قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا تَأْمُرُنِي ؟ إِنِّي ضَرِيرُ الْبَصَرِ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ غَيْرُ أُولِي الضَّرَرِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: ائْتُونِي بِالْكَتِفِ وَالدَّوَاةِ أَوِ اللَّوْحِ وَالدَّوَاةِ.

Translation

✧ "Those who sit [at home] among the believers, other than those with harm, are not equal." He said: When it was revealed, 'Amr b. Umm Maktum came to the Prophet ﷺ, and he was blind. He said: "O Messenger of God, what do you command me? I am blind." So God, Mighty and Majestic, revealed: "other than those with harm." The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Bring me a shoulder blade and ink, or a tablet and ink."
