✧ “Gather together, so that I may show you how the Messenger of God ﷺ used to perform ablution and how he used to pray, for I do not know how much longer my companionship with you will last.” He said: So he gathered his sons and his family and called for water for ablution. He rinsed his mouth, sniffed water into his nose and blew it out, washed his face three times, washed his right hand three times, washed this hand of his three times—meaning the left—then wiped his head and his ears, their outer and inner parts, and washed this foot—meaning the right—three times, and washed this foot three times—meaning the left. He said: “Thus I have not failed to show you how the Messenger of God ﷺ used to perform ablution.” Then he entered his house and prayed a prayer which we do not know what it was. Then he came out and ordered the prayer, so the iqāmah was given, and he led us in the noon prayer. I think I heard from him some verses of Yā Sīn. Then he prayed the afternoon prayer, then he led us in the sunset prayer, then he led us in the night prayer, and he said: “I have not failed to show you how the Messenger of God ﷺ used to perform ablution and how he used to pray.”
