✧ Some people came to 'Abd Allah—meaning Ibn Mas'ud—and said, 'What do you think about a man who married a woman?' And he mentioned the hadith. A man from Ashja' stood up—Mansur said, 'I think he was Salamah b. Yazid'—and said, 'In a case like this the Messenger of God ﷺ ruled: a man from among us married a woman from Banu Ru'as called Barwa' bint Washiq. He went out on a journey and fell into a well and drowned and died, not having assigned her a dower. They came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and he said, "Like the dower of her peers, without deficiency or excess, and she inherits, and she must observe the waiting period."'
