machine translationHushaym is a well-known man, and the imams wrote down from him. In himself he is not objectionable, except that he was ascribed to concealment (tadlīs). He has various compilations, good hadiths and unusual ones (gharāʾib). When he narrates from a trustworthy person, there is no harm in him. Sometimes he errs, and some of his hadiths are found to be rejected (munkar) when he practised concealment (tadlīs) in his narration from someone who is not trustworthy. Shuʿbah, al-Thawrī, Mālik, Ibn Mahdī, Ibn Abī ʿAdī and other imams narrated from him, and there is no harm in him or in his narrations.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 1849
