حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ عَنْ أَخِيهِ مُطَرِّفٍ عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ
مَنِ الْتَقَطَ لُقَطَةً فَلْيُشْهِدْ ذَا عَدْلٍ أَوْ ذَوَيْ عَدْلٍ، ثُمَّ لَا يَكْتُمْ وَلَا يُغَيِّبْ، فَإِنْ جَاءَ رَبُّهَا فَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهَا، وَإِلَّا فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ مَالُ اللهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ.

✧ Whoever picks up a lost item, let him make a just person or two just persons witness it. Then he should not conceal it or hide it. If its owner comes, he is more entitled to it; otherwise, it is Allah's property, which He gives to whomever He wills.
