حَدَّثَنَا قُرَّانُ بْنُ تَمَّامٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ الطَّائِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ الْأَسَدِيِّ قَالَ

مَاتَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ يُقَالُ لَهُ قَرَظَةُ بْنُ كَعْبٍ، فَنِيحَ عَلَيْهِ فَخَرَجَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ فَصَعِدَ الْمِنْبَرَ، فَحَمِدَ اللهَ، وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ، [ثُمَّ] قَالَ: مَا بَالُ النَّوْحِ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ ؟ ! أَمَا إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ كَذِبًا عَلَيَّ لَيْسَ كَكَذِبٍ عَلَى أَحَدٍ، أَلَا وَمَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ مُتَعَمِّدًا، فَلْيَتَبَوَّأْ مَقْعَدَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ

Translation

✧ A man of the Anṣār named Qaraẓa b. Kaʿb died, and wailing was done over him. Al-Mughira b. Shuʿba went out, ascended the pulpit, praised Allah, and extolled Him, then said: 'What is the matter with wailing in Islam? Indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Lying about me is not like lying about anyone else. Verily, whoever lies about me deliberately, let him take his seat in the Fire.'
