✧ A man asked the Prophet ﷺ, saying, “O Messenger of Allah, my father came to Islam while he is an old man who cannot sit firmly on his mount. May I perform Hajj on his behalf?” He said, “What do you think if he had a debt and you paid it on his behalf, would that suffice him?” He said, “Yes.” He said, “Then perform Hajj on behalf of your father.”

machine translationThe most authentic report on this topic is what Ibn ʿAbbās narrated from al-Faḍl b. ʿAbbās, from the Prophet, peace be upon him. Muḥammad said: It is possible that Ibn ʿAbbās heard it from al-Faḍl and others, from the Prophet ﷺ, and then transmitted it as a mursal report, without mentioning the one from whom he heard it.
