✧ Preachers rose in Jerusalem during the emirate of Muʿāwiyah and spoke. The last to speak was Murrah b. Kaʿb, and he said: Were it not for a hadith I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I would not have stood. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mention a tribulation and bring it near. A veiled man passed by, so he said: “This man and his companions will be upon truth and guidance on that day.” I said: This one, O Messenger of Allah? And I turned his face toward him. He said: “This one.” And it was ʿUthmān [b. ʿAffān ؓ].
