حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ وَسَمِعْتُهُ مِنَ الْحَكَمِ حَدَّثَنَا شِهَابُ بْنُ خِرَاشٍ حَدَّثَنِي شُعَيْبُ بْنُ رُزَيْقٍ الطَّائِفِيُّ قَالَ
كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ رَجُلٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ الْحَكَمُ بْنُ حَزْنٍ الْكُلَفِيُّ وَلَهُ صُحْبَةٌ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، قَالَ: فَأَنْشَأَ يُحَدِّثُنَا، قَالَ: قَدِمْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ سَابِعَ سَبْعَةٍ، أَوْ تَاسِعَ تِسْعَةٍ، قَالَ: فَأَذِنَ لَنَا فَدَخَلْنَا، فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَتَيْنَاكَ لِتَدْعُوَ لَنَا بِخَيْرٍ، قَالَ: فَدَعَا لَنَا بِخَيْرٍ وَأَمَرَ بِنَا، فَأُنْزِلْنَا وَأَمَرَ لَنَا بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ تَمْرٍ، وَالشَّأْنُ إِذْ ذَاكَ دُونٌ، قَالَ: فَلَبِثْنَا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَيَّامًا شَهِدْنَا فِيهَا الْجُمُعَةَ، فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مُتَوَكِّئًا عَلَى قَوْسٍ -أَوْ قَالَ: عَلَى عَصًا - فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ كَلِمَاتٍ خَفِيفَاتٍ طَيِّبَاتٍ مُبَارَكَاتٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ: « يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، إِنَّكُمْ لَنْ تَفْعَلُوا وَلَنْ تُطِيقُوا كُلَّ مَا أُمِرْتُمْ بِهِ، وَلَكِنْ سَدِّدُوا وَأَبْشِرُوا ».

✧ I was sitting with a man called al-Hakam b. Hazn al-Kulafi, who had companionship with the Prophet ﷺ. He said: He began to narrate to us. He said: I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ as the seventh of seven, or the ninth of nine. He said: He gave us permission, so we entered. We said: O Messenger of God, we have come to you so that you may supplicate for good for us. He said: So he supplicated for good for us, and gave orders concerning us. We were lodged, and he ordered something of dates for us — and the situation at that time was meager. He said: We stayed with the Messenger of God ﷺ for some days, during which we attended the Friday prayer. The Messenger of God ﷺ stood, leaning on a bow — or he said: on a staff — and praised God and extolled Him with light, good, blessed words, then said: “O people, you will never be able to do or bear all that you have been commanded. But aim aright and rejoice.”
