حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ عَنْ أَبِي الْقَمُوصِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَحَدُ الْوَفْدِ الَّذِينَ وَفَدُوا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَإِنْ لَا يَكُنْ قَالَ قَيْسَ بْنَ النُّعْمَانِ فَإِنِّي نَسِيتُ اسْمَهُ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ قَالَ

وَابْتَهَلَ يَدْعُو لِعَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ وَوَجْهُهُ هَاهُنَا مِنَ الْقِبْلَةِ - يَعْنِي عَنْ يَمِينِ الْقِبْلَةِ - حَتَّى اسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ، ثُمَّ يَدْعُو لِعَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: « إِنَّ خَيْرَ أَهْلِ الْمَشْرِقِ عَبْدُ الْقَيْسِ

Translation

✧ He fervently prayed for Abd al-Qays while his face was there, away from the qiblah—meaning to the right of the qiblah—until he faced the qiblah, then he prayed for Abd al-Qays, then said: “The best people of the East are Abd al-Qays.”
