حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ صَالِحٍ وَحَدَّثَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ مَالِكٍ أَخْبَرَهُ
أَنَّ سُرَاقَةَ بْنَ جُعْشُمٍ دَخَلَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي وَجَعِهِ الَّذِي تُوُفِّيَ فِيهِ، قَالَ: فَطَفِقْتُ أَسْأَلُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى مَا أَذْكُرُ مَا أَسْأَلُهُ عَنْهُ، فَقَالَ: اذْكُرْهُ، قَالَ: وَكَانَ مِمَّا سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْهُ أَنْ قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، الضَّالَّةُ تَغْشَى حِيَاضِي، وَقَدْ مَلَأْتُهَا مَاءً لِإِبِلِي، هَلْ لِي مِنْ أَجْرٍ [فِي] أَنْ أَسْقِيَهَا؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: « نَعَمْ، فِي سَقْيِ كُلِّ كَبِدٍ حَرَّى أَجْرٌ لِلهِ [عَزَّ وَجَلَّ]

✧ Suraqah b. Ju'shum entered upon the Messenger of God ﷺ during the illness in which he died. He said: I began to ask the Messenger of God ﷺ until I cannot recall what I asked him about. He said: "Remember it." He said: And among what I asked him about was that I said: O Messenger of God, the stray camels come to my watering places, and I had filled them with water for my own camels; is there any reward for me [in] giving them water? The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Yes, in watering every thirsty liver there is a reward from God [Mighty and Majestic]."
