✧ Prayer is two [rakʿahs] by two: you recite the tashahhud in every two rakʿahs, and you supplicate earnestly, and you show humility, and you show stillness, then you raise your hands—he said: you raise them to your Lord [Mighty and Majestic], facing your face with their palms—and you say: O Lord, O Lord—three times. Whoever does not do that, it is deficient.

What scholars said about it

In their own words, as Hadith Unlocked records them. They are shown, not summarised into a grade.

  • Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr

machine translationA confused (muḍṭarib), weak (ḍaʿīf) chain; the like of it is not to be used as evidence.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 17730
  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationThere is a disagreement in its chain.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 17730
  • al-Bukhari

machine translationThe hadith of al-Layth is more authentic than the hadith of Shuʿbah.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 17730
  • Sulaymān b. Aḥmad al-Ṭabarānī

  • al-Bukhari

machine translationAnd the hadith of al-Layth is more authentic than the hadith of Shuʿbah.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 17730

    in مسند أحمد, p. 17730
  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationAnd the correct statement is that of al-Layth b. Saʿd.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 17730
  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationWhat al-Layth says is more authentic, because ʿAmr b. al-Ḥārith and Ibn Lahīʿah corroborated al-Layth. ʿAmr and al-Layth used to write, whereas Shuʿbah was a man of memory. I said to my father: Is this chain sound (ṣaḥīḥ) in your view? He said: Good (ḥasan).

    in مسند أحمد, p. 17730
  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationThe hadith of al-Layth is more authentic, because Anas b. Abī Anas is not known, and ʿAbdullāh b. al-Ḥārith has no meaning here; it is only Rabīʿah b. al-Ḥārith.

    in مسند أحمد, p. 17730
