حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ مَوْلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ قَالَ
كُنْتُ أَقُودُ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ نَاقَتَهُ قَالَ: فَقَالَ لِي: أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ سُورَتَيْنِ لَمْ يُقْرَأْ بِمِثْلِهِمَا ؟ قُلْتُ: بَلَى، فَعَلَّمَنِي قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ وَ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ فَلَمْ يَرَنِي أُعْجِبْتُ بِهِمَا، فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ الصُّبْحَ فَقَرَأَ بِهِمَا ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي: كَيْفَ رَأَيْتَ يَا عُقْبَةُ ؟

✧ I was leading the Messenger of God’s ﷺ camel. He said to me, “Shall I teach you two sūrahs the like of which has never been recited?” I said, “Yes.” He taught me “Say: I take refuge in the Lord of mankind” and “Say: I take refuge in the Lord of the dawn.” He did not see me pleased with them. When he stopped for the dawn prayer, he recited them, then said to me, “How do you find them, O ʿUqbah?”
