حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَحْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حِمْيَرٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا كَثِيرٍ الْمُحَارِبِيَّ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ خَرَشَةَ بْنَ الْحُرِّ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ

سَتَكُونُ مِنْ بَعْدِي فِتْنَةٌ، النَّائِمُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْيَقْظَانِ، وَالْقَاعِدُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْقَائِمِ، وَالْقَائِمُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ السَّاعِي، فَمَنْ أَتَتْ عَلَيْهِ فَلْيَمْشِ بِسَيْفِهِ إِلَى صَفَاةٍ فَلْيَضْرِبْهُ [بِهَا] حَتَّى يَنْكَسِرَ، ثُمَّ لِيَضْطَجِعْ لَهَا حَتَّى تَنْجَلِيَ عَمَّا انْجَلَتْ

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "There will be a trial after me in which the one who is sleeping will be better than the one who is awake, and the one who is sitting will be better than the one who is standing, and the one who is standing will be better than the one who is walking. Whoever is afflicted with it should take his sword and strike with it until it is broken, then lie down with it until it is gone."
