✧ He heard Mu'awiyah saying in Madinah on the pulpit of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: Where are your scholars, O people of Madinah? I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on this day, the day of 'Ashura', saying: Whoever of you wishes to fast it, let him fast it. And I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbidding the like of this. He brought out a lock of hair from his sleeve and said: The Children of Israel were ruined only when their women adopted such things.
