✧ He entered with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ upon Maymunah bt. al-Harith, who was his maternal aunt. She offered the Messenger of Allah ﷺ the meat of a dabb lizard brought by Umm Hufayd bt. al-Harith from Najd; she was married to a man of the Banu Ja'far. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would not eat anything until he knew what it was. One of the women said: 'Will you not tell the Messenger of Allah ﷺ what he is eating?' So they told him that it was dabb meat, and he left it. Khalid said: 'I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: Is it forbidden?' He said: 'No, but it is a food not found among my people, and I find myself averse to it.' Khalid said: 'So I pulled it toward me and ate it while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was watching.'
