✧ He said: O Messenger of God, the torrents come between me and the mosque of my people, and I would like you to come and pray in a place in my house that I may take as a mosque. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "We will do so." So when morning came, the Messenger of God ﷺ went to Abu Bakr and asked him to accompany him. When the Messenger of God ﷺ entered, he said: "Where do you want?" I pointed for him to a corner of the house. The Messenger of God ﷺ stood, and we formed rows behind him, and he prayed two rak'ahs with us. We detained him for a dish of meat and broth we had prepared. The people of the area—meaning the people of the village—heard, so they began to come, and the house became full. A man among the people said: Where is Malik b. al-Dukhshum? Another man said: That one is among the hypocrites. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Do not say that. He says: There is no god but God, seeking thereby the face of God." The man said: As for us, we see his face and his talk directed to the hypocrites. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Do not say that. He says: There is no god but God, seeking thereby the face of God." Another man said: Yes, O Messenger of God. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "If a servant comes on the Day of Resurrection saying: There is no god but God, seeking thereby the face of God, God will surely forbid him from the Fire." Mahmud said: I narrated that to a people among whom was Abu Ayyub. He said: I do not think the Messenger of God ﷺ said this. I said: If I return and Itban is alive, I will ask him. I came and he was blind, and he was the imam of his people. I asked him, and he narrated it to me just as.
