Translation

✧ When Allah granted His Messenger the spoils on the day of Hunayn, he distributed them among the people, giving to those whose hearts were to be reconciled, but he did not distribute anything to the Ansar. They felt hurt because they did not receive what the people received. So he addressed them, saying: “O company of Ansar, did I not find you astray and Allah guided you through me? You were divided and Allah united you through me? You were poor and Allah enriched you through me?” Whenever he said something, they said, “Allah and His Messenger are more gracious.” He said, “What prevents you from answering me?” They said, “Allah and His Messenger are more gracious.” He said, “If you wished, you could say, ‘You came to us in such and such a state.’ Are you not content that the people take away sheep and camels, while you take the Messenger of Allah to your homes? Were it not for the Hijrah, I would have been a man of the Ansar. If the people were to travel through a valley and a mountain pass, I would travel through the valley of the Ansar and their mountain pass. The Ansar are the inner garment, and the people are the outer garment. You will surely face selfishness after me, so be patient until you meet me at the Pond.”
