✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ permitted us on the day of the conquest to fight Banu Bakr, until we obtained our revenge from them, while he was in Makkah. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered the sword to be lifted. The next day, a group of us met a man from Hudhayl in the sanctuary heading to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to become Muslim. He had wronged them in the pre-Islamic era, and they were seeking him, so they killed him, fearing that he might reach the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and be safe. When that reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he became very angry. By Allah, I never saw him angrier than that. So we rushed to Abu Bakr, 'Umar, and 'Ali ؓ seeking their intercession, fearing that we had perished. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the prayer, he stood, praised Allah, Mighty and Majestic, as He deserves, then said: 'To proceed: Indeed, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, made Makkah sacred, and people did not make it sacred. He only made it lawful for me for a portion of the day yesterday, and today it is sacred as Allah, Mighty and Majestic, made it sacred the first time. Indeed, the most insolent of people against Allah, Mighty and Majestic, are three: a man who kills in it, a man who kills other than his killer, and a man who seeks a pre-Islamic vengeance. And, by Allah, I will surely pay the blood money for this man whom you killed.'" So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ paid his blood money.
