حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عُمَرَ بَنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ أَنَّ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَهُمْ
إِذَا أَصَابَتْ أَحَدَكُمْ مُصِيبَةٌ فَلْيَقُلْ: إِنَّا لِلهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ، اللَّهُمَّ عِنْدَكَ أَحْتَسِبُ مُصِيبَتِي، فَأْجُرْنِي فِيهَا، وَأَبْدِلْنِي بِهَا خَيْرًا مِنْهَا "، فَلَمَّا قُبِضَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ خَلَفَنِي اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِي أَهْلِي خَيْرًا مِنْهُ

✧ “If a misfortune befalls one of you, let him say: ‘Indeed we belong to God, and indeed to Him we return. O God, with You I seek reward for my misfortune, so reward me in it and replace it for me with something better.’ ” When Abu Salamah passed away, God, Mighty and Majestic, left me with someone better than him for my household.
