✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ supplicated on the evening of ʿArafah for his community, asking for forgiveness and mercy. He made much supplication. God, Mighty and Majestic, answered him: “I have done so, and I have forgiven your community, except those who wrong one another.” He said: “O Lord, You are able to forgive the wrongdoer and reward the wronged with something better than the injustice done to him.” That evening nothing more came. When it was the next day, he supplicated in the morning of Muzdalifah, and again he prayed for his community. The Prophet ﷺ did not wait long before he smiled. Some of his companions said: O Messenger of God, may my father and mother be your ransom, you smiled at a time you were not smiling. What made you smile? May God make your teeth smile. He said: “I smiled at God’s enemy Iblīs, when he knew that God, Mighty and Majestic, had answered me for my community and forgiven the wrongdoer. He fell down calling for destruction and woe, throwing dust on his head. I smiled at what his anxiety made him do.”
