✧ I passed by al-Rabadha and there was a tent. I said: 'Whose is this?' It was said: 'It belongs to Muhammad ibn Maslama.' I sought permission from him and entered upon him. I said: 'May God have mercy on you! You are in a position regarding this matter, so if you went out to the people and commanded and forbade.' He said: 'The Messenger of God ﷺ said: There will be tribulation, division, and disagreement. When that happens, take your sword to Uhud and strike its side with it, break your arrows, cut your bowstring, and sit in your house.' That has already happened. Yazid said once: 'Strike with it until you cut it, then sit in your house until a sinful hand comes to you or God, Mighty and Majestic, grants you well-being.' What the Messenger of God ﷺ said has happened, and I did what he commanded me. Then he took down a sword that was hanging on the tent pole and drew it, and it was a wooden sword. He said: 'I have done what the Messenger of God ﷺ commanded me, and I have taken this to frighten people with it.'
